ARTIC CARDS

The ARTIC family of realltime co-processor cards features 16- bit processors and a high-performance system bus interface. ARTIC products are ideal for off-loading communication tasks while providing front-end processing of signaling, process and communications data.

ARTIC offers an open architecture for ISA and PCI bus systems. It provides a common platform ideal for OEM customers, third-party developers, and end users looking to embed ARTIC capabilities into products, to leverage system, and to satisfy their communications needs.

ARTIC's dependable components consist of adapter cards, pluggable electrical interface cards, cables, software, and publications. Users benefit from multiple ports per adapter, multiple protocols on a single adapter, multiple adapters per system, plus upstream and downstream connectivity.

Typical applications include: remote LAN access, network bridging and routing, multiple WAN connections, remote host connectivity, modem pooling, telephony automation, credit authorization, travel reservation and ticketing, point-of-sale devices and networking, plant floor connectivity, terminal connections, custom device connections, telephony signaling, stock market data delivery, automatic teller services, process control, and telecommunications switching.

The ARTIC family of computer communication products consists of co-processor cards that are specifically designed to increase the speed and efficiency and communication options of a computer workstation or server.

Each ARTIC card is equipped with its own CPU, memory and input/output lines. This "computer within a computer" receives, processes and transmits data on its own, thereby leaving the computer's main processor free to handle those tasks that it does best.

If you know what computer bus structure you need, go directly to that architecture for product information -- choose PCI or ISA . Or feel free to browse our site and go ARTIC as you wish.

These ARTIC cards conform to Intel's Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI 2.1] standard. Only 5 volt, 32 bit PCI expansion slots are supported. The PCI bus is synchronized with the microprocessor clock speed, in the range of 20 to 33 Mhz. PCI uses all active paths to transmit both address and data signals, sending the address on one clock cycle and data on the next. Go to PCI ARTIC.

These ARTIC cards conform to the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) standard bus. This architecture, associated with the IBM AT motherboard, allows 16 bits at a time to flow between the motherboard circuitry and the ARTIC card. Go to ISA ARTIC.
